Eight months out. He wasn't in a rush - he wanted to get it exactly right.
He knew her completely: how she moved, what she wore without thinking, what she'd never take off. He just didn't know where to begin. So the first appointment was about her, not the ring - who she was, the life they were building.
From there, a direction and style - architectural, low enough for everyday hands-on work, a stone warm rather than flashy. We designed a custom oval solitaire engagement ring in 18k solid yellow gold, set with a champagne diamond she'd never have chosen herself.
She knew the moment she saw it. He proposed on a quiet Sunday morning - she said yes before he finished the sentence.
For three years, a small velvet pouch sat at the back of a drawer. Inside, a round brilliant diamond, slightly yellowed with age - her grandmother's. She wasn't ready to let it go, but didn't know what to do with it either.
